Starting a new business?

Question by david b: Starting a new business?
I need some advice people, i’m torn between starting 2 businesses one is a local coupon website backed up by a discount coupon booklet delivered to 10,000 homes, the other is a text marketing business where businesses can text offers to customers who have asked to be kept informed of discounts etc dentists can send out appointment remiders by the text service too. I have registered domains for both opportunities ideally i would like to start both companies but they are kinda both competing due to both being targeted at local small businesses in the advertising world.

How do i solve this problem of trying to run both? same website or 2 complete different web sites can you really run 2 businesses in the same industry? Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Starting up a caddying business in my local area – need help?

Question by danny_d_17: Starting up a caddying business in my local area – need help?
Hi, I’ve decided that I would like to start up a part time caddying business in my local area, Enfield. There are several clubs in this area, all of which I would be happy to caddy at. I would like to negotiate with all of them to advertise my service in return for part of the commission. I would like to know how I would go about doing this? Obviously though, there wont be much commission. I would like to employ several other friends of mine who will be called up occasionally and get a big share of the money they receive for the caddying:

£15 for 18 holes – £10 to the caddy – 3£ to me – 2£ to the club.

These are my rates, and discounts will be available on the holidays.

How should I go about starting this business? ETC sponsor, shirts, cards, taxes, website, any legal requirements? I am only fourteen so this money might not seem like alot, but this money is alot to me.

I would just like to know what I should do (step by step) to start up the business and anything I need to know about tax.

I will also be able to give any extra information if necessary.

do they even use caddies anymore? in The USA, most courses FORCE the golfers to rent motorized carts and the Golf Course makes extra money from that.

your first step would be to approach the golf courses and ask if you would even be allowed to do anything caddy wise – maybe they hire their own caddies. and how would you handle caddies during the week when you are supposed to be in school? your service isn’t worth much if you are only available on weekends

and being 14, are you even old enough to legally run a business like that? you are not old enough to sign contracts with anyone

I’m thinking of starting up a local torture chamber?

Question by rogavit: I’m thinking of starting up a local torture chamber?
How should I attract clients?
I’m probably going to include racks, hot irons, burn stations and perhaps a central pit with ravenous dogs/bears.
I was thinking of giving discounts to seniors and kids but I’m a bit concerned it could erode my profitability.
Any advice is welcome.

chain the tortured to a wall, and have the original, “It’s a small world after all” (Disney song) playing on repeat. It’ll get stuck in their heads and annoy the @^%* outta them.

Don’t get caught! lol!

Question by : Starting a coupon book(advertising business), should I start one if there is already one?
I am in an area where ther is a tourist coupon book . Basically they sell adspace in their book. I know I can do better at a better price for advertisers.

Do you think advertisers will be willing to switch. If this coupon book has already been established for years.

It depends. You may offer a lower price than your competitor but will the distribution of your coupon book be at least equal to your competitor. Businesses are paying to advertise to get the word out about their business to tourists. If you cannot guarantee to reach at least the same number of tourists that your current advertiser does they will not switch.

Hope this helps.

i think you have a good idea. but, you will have to be persistent with advertisers. be prepared to get allot “NO” before you get that first “YES”.
