Question by AtiaoftheJulii: Should grocery stores that offer Self-Scan service offer discounts to shoppers who use them?
My local grocery store has put in converters for their self-scans. I think because shoppers are ringing up and bagging their own groceries, they should receive some type of discount. However my dad disagrees. He say it is your choice to use self-scan machines, therefore shoppers deserve nothing..
What say you?
Answer by Rick H
I agree with your dad. It’s your choice to use the self scans. The scans are merely a convenience. Have you ever went to the store to pick up one thing and have to stand in line for a half hour because there’s only one cashier at their register and the rest of the lanes were closed? Why do you feel you should get a discount for saving YOURSELF some time?
